Make A Planned Gift

WHAT LIFE STORY ARE YOU WRITING TODAY?

Whether we all realize it or not, we are building our legacy right now. Everything we do contributes to our own life story. And how long our legacy lasts depends on the people we affect today and what we choose to leave behind. For more information on how OHF manage the donation we received, read "Stretching The Donor's Dollar".

WHAT IS PLANNED GIVING?

Only two things are certain in life, it is said, and they are death and taxes. That's where planned giving comes in. OHF can become the vehicle through which you can make a lasting mark through a gift that leaves the world a better place for the the poor.

WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE?

Help us be the best that we can be. OHF has big dreams for there is power in such dreams. Our BHAG (Big, Hairy, Audacioua, Goals) are as follow:

1. To establish and register 10 NGOs in 10 countries with our own facilities and staff by 2014

2. To enable thousands of Singaporeans to undertake meaningful, overseas outreach projects through our Mind Change Program.

3. To develop new solutions using appropriate technology with our Mind Share Program and to provide opportunities for tertiary students/ companies to make a difference in the lives of the poor.

4. To establish income-generating units or businesses to provide jobs for the poor and disadvantaged.

5. To provide homes for poor orphans so that they can have a better future.

HOW GIFTS CAN BE STRUCTURED?

You can arrange a gift in a will or living trust. Many people set aside a certain dollar amount. Others leave a percentage of their estate or any assets left over after their family has been provided for. Some people choose to donate cash, securities, real or personal property. If you have a professional advisor like a financial planner, lawyer, an accountant or insurance agent, do discuss with him or her about leaving a gift.

There are several ways gifts can be structured for use:

  1. restricted or designated gifts which are applied to specific programs
  2. Area-of-interest gifts which are applied to specific projects
  3. Unrestricted or undesignated funds where the income can be allocated to where it is most needed.
WILLS
A gift by will is known as a bequest or a legacy. A bequest is, in every sense of the word, the ultimate gift. Bequests can either be specific or residual. For example, providing for The Operation Hope Foundation in your will can be as simple as including the following sentence: "I give, devise and bequeath to The Operation Hope Foundation Ltd ____% of my estate to be used for its general purposes".

"Moreover, when God gives any man wealth and possessions, and enables him to enjoy them, to accept his lot and be happy in his work - this is a gift of God." - Ecclesiastes 5:19
